Privacy and ownership
Keep sensitive information under the user's control. Favor local processing, data minimization, inspectable data flows, and the ability to export or delete what a system holds.
An initiative in formation
Catholic Computer explores sovereign computing, decentralized intelligence, and open-source AI, grounded in human dignity and Catholic social teaching.
People should be able to keep their lives private, own their data, choose their tools, and exercise their judgment without covert algorithmic manipulation. We want to help make that possible.
Our starting principles
Christian ethics should shape how technology works, not just the answers it gives. These are the standards we want to translate into design decisions, public research, and working software.
Keep sensitive information under the user's control. Favor local processing, data minimization, inspectable data flows, and the ability to export or delete what a system holds.
No covert persuasion, engineered dependency, or exploitation of personal vulnerabilities. People must remain free to question, disagree, decide, and disconnect.
Explore open models, portable agents, interoperable tools, and computing infrastructure that individuals and communities can run or choose for themselves.
Make claims traceable to sources and technical results reproducible. Be clear about uncertainty. Keep people responsible for consequential decisions.
Support the autonomy of families, parishes, schools, and local communities. Share knowledge and tools so advanced computing is useful beyond large institutions.
Use compute responsibly. Favor efficient models, durable hardware, repairability, and transparent resource costs when choosing how to build.
The domain family
These names describe a possible structure for future work. They are not separate products or services available today.
Public identity
The main home for research, software, technical writing, and a community interested in responsible computing informed by Catholic thought.
